Elena covers politics at NOTUS, including the 2028 presidential campaign and the Democratic Party.
Elena previously worked for POLITICO, where she covered the 2020 and 2024 presidential campaigns. In 2022, she was a part of the POLITICO team that won the Toner Prize for their coverage of the fall of Roe v. Wade. Before jumping to presidential politics, she reported on House, Senate and gubernatorial races during the 2018 and 2016 cycles at POLITICO. She also worked as a news assistant for The New York Times’ D.C. bureau.
Her work has also appeared in The Texas Tribune and Texas Monthly. She earned a master’s and a bachelor’s in journalism from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. Schneider is a North Carolina native.
