About the role:
NOTUS is looking for a columnist to write about politics. This writer should be adept at making sharp, surprising arguments and supporting those arguments with data, research and original reporting. The writer should have a distinctive voice, ideally one that is equal parts enlightening, impassioned and fun. We are particularly interested in writers who can make bold journalistic arguments through satire and humor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Write one to two columns per week.
- Write multiple longform essays per year, drawing on original reporting or research.
- Promote their work and NOTUS Perspectives generally through social media and appearances on TV, radio and podcasts.
- Contribute to NOTUS newsletters and events.
Desired Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a writer of thoughtful, sharp opinion journalism.

This reporter will break news, find underreported angles and report on political battles and key policy issues within DHS and its subagencies, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

We prefer this person to be based in the D.C. area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead coverage of major developments in the Department of Homeland Security, with an eye toward behind-the-scenes policymaking and political dynamics.
- Help collaborate on breaking news and fast-moving developments.
- Write and report enterprise stories about key DHS leaders and issues.
- Maintain deep sourcing among DHS officials, stakeholders, and relevant congressional leaders and staff.
- Write clear, smart and incisive copy that details the real-world implications of policy decisions for our core audience of informed readers.

The Director of Client Partnerships will identify, prospect, and secure new business from public affairs and policy-focused clients, trade associations, and corporations. This role includes building new client relationships, growing existing business, and enhancing NOTUS’ market presence by providing customized solutions that meet client needs. Reporting to the Chief Revenue Officer, the ideal candidate will have an impressive track record in a related role, be eager to learn, highly driven, and a vital contributor to the company’s growth strategies.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Revenue Production: Foster new business development by driving your entire sales pipeline, from initial contact through contract negotiation and closing.
- Lead Generation: Actively research and identify potential growth opportunities through your own contacts as well as via active networking and digital outreach.
- Client Relationship Building: Grow, develop and sustain strong relationships with key stakeholders, positioning NOTUS as a trusted partner.
- Public Affairs Intelligence: Utilize a fluency in public policy, public affairs, corporate CSR, and the political news space.

Qualifications:
We are looking for a professional with consultative sales experience and knowledge of the public affairs ecosystem in Washington, DC.
- 3-5 years of experience in B2B sales, preferably in a public affairs environment.
- Strong presentation, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated with a strong, professional, goal-oriented work ethic.
- Knowledge of digital media market and the ability to respond effectively to market direction, client needs and competition.
- A desire to manage the entire sales process (including prospecting, acquiring new business and growing relationships)
- Ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders to articulate product needs and new opportunities.
- Ability to learn and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.

About the role:
NOTUS is looking for a Justice Editor to lead our coverage of the Department of Justice, the Department of Homeland Security, immigration, federal law enforcement and the federal court system.
The Justice Editor will co-lead the larger Government and Policy team with one other editor. To succeed in this job, you will have to be a team player with strong organizational and communication skills.
This editor should be full of story ideas and have a record of delivering agenda-setting enterprise pieces, exclusives and artfully crafted features. You should be as comfortable working in a fast-paced news environment as you would be helping manage an investigation that involves multiple editors. This position is based in Washington, D.C.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of reporters covering immigration policy, DHS, DOJ and the justice system.
- Co-manage the core policy team of the NOTUS newsroom, bringing fresh ideas to the team.
- Edit clear, smart and incisive copy that details the real-world implications of federal decisions for our core audience of informed readers.
- Work in partnership with editors and other reporters to produce ambitious, newsmaking journalism.

This reporter should be comfortable jumping on daily news out of the White House, as well as seeking out unique reporting angles and writing revelatory enterprise and investigative stories. The ideal candidate will have sources throughout the White House and in the president’s broader network.
NOTUS has a smart and plugged-in audience. Our readers look to us for the news and context that matters every day. We want a reporter who is eager to break news, deliver news-driving enterprise stories and produce impactful work that holds the powerful accountable.
This person will be based in the Washington, D.C., area.
Key responsibilities:
- Write and report breaking news and enterprise stories about the president and key players.
- Maintain deep sourcing within the White House: close aides and advisers to the president, key policy and political staff and people with influence on the president outside of the White House.
- Write clear, smart and incisive copy that details the real-world implications of White House decisions for our core audience of informed readers.
