A New York appeals court has denied the former president’s latest attempt to overturn his gag order in his criminal hush money trial: “We find that Justice Merchan properly weighed petitioner’s First Amendment Rights against the court’s historical commitment to ensuring the fair administration of justice in criminal cases, and the right of persons related or tangentially related to the criminal proceedings from being free from threats, intimidation, harassment, and harm,” the order said.

The Biden administration has announced new tariffs on China’s electric vehicles, solar cells, steel, aluminum, syringes and needles. The tariff rate on electric vehicles will increase from 25% to 100% in 2024, per the White House. “China is simply too big to play by its own rules,” Lael Brainard, White House National Economic Council director, told reporters.

Donald Trump’s former fixer Michael Cohen took the stand Monday pursuant to a subpoena. Cohen spent his early testimony explaining a strong working relationship with Trump, saying he spoke with him multiple times every day. Cohen called Trump a “micromanager” and said he would sometimes lie for him, per CNN.

A federal appeals court has upheld ex—Donald Trump adviser Steve Bannon’s contempt-of-Congress conviction. Bannon was found guilty of failing to comply with the House January 6 committee’s subpoena. The appeals court also upheld Bannon’s four-month federal prison sentence. Bannon was given time to appeal the ruling to the full DC-based appeals court.

Two political strategists are cooperating with the Justice Department in its case against Texas Democrat Rep. Henry Cuellar and have agreed to plead guilty to charges that they conspired with the lawmaker to launder more than $200,000 in bribes. Per the San Antonio Express-News, the two middlemen, Cuellar’s former campaign manager Colin Strother and political consultant Florencio “Lencho” Rendon, agreed to plea deals in March.

Kahane was charged with second-degree assault with intent to cause physical injury with a weapon after allegedly ramming his car into a pro-Palestinian protester who was demonstrating outside a Columbia University trustee’s home. Two of the demonstrators were also arrested and charged with misdemeanors.

Georgia’s state Court of Appeals said it would consider a challenge to the decision to not to disqualify Fani Willis as the district attorney overseeing his elections case in the state. Trump’s legal team, which has accused Willis of “misconduct” for her relationship with the former special prosecutor on the case, has 10 days to file a notice of appeal.

Stormy Daniels, the blockbuster witness in former President Donald Trump’s hush money trial, is likely to take the stand Tuesday, according to her attorney. Trump complained in a now-deleted Truth Social post about the upcoming testimony: “I have just recently been told who the witness is today. This is unprecedented, no time for lawyers to prepare.”
