Santos, who was running an independent bid for New York’s First Congressional District, says he’s withdrawing his campaign. “I don’t want my run to be portrayed as reprisal against Nick Lalota,” Santos posted on X of the incumbent Republican candidate in the race, saying his run “all but guarantees a victory for the Dems.” Santos hinted this is not the end of his political career though: “It’s only goodbye for now, I’ll be back.”

Pecker testified that Donald Trump “asked me what can I do and what my magazines can do to help the campaign” during the trial, going on to lay out the National Enquirer’s “catch and kill” arrangement to squash negative stories about Trump. Pecker’s testimony is in line with the prosecution’s case that the hush money payments were about Trump’s presidential campaign and not just about his personal reputation.

“You’re losing all credibility with the court,” Judge Juan Merchan told Donald Trump’s lawyer Todd Blanche about Trump’s recent posts on Truth Social. Merchan said he was reserving a decision on whether Trump violated his gag order with posts about Stormy Daniels, Michael Cohen and others related to the hush money case. Blanche argued the court was not “clear” about “reposts” in the gag order.

Donald Trump’s lawyer Todd Blanche’s opening statement was interrupted multiple times by objections from the prosecution.
