President Donald Trump’s personal wealth may have grown by hundreds of millions of dollars in recent months, but many of his top White House advisers didn’t get raises during the past year, according to a new salary report detailing the highest — and lowest — earners in the Executive Office of the President.
The highest salary in 2026 for White House office personnel is $197,200 — a salary reserved for several “detailees” who are serving on temporary assignments from other parts of the government.
This included Scott Brady, executive director of the White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud, and Harry Jung, deputy director of the White House Crypto Council, according to the report, which the White House submitted to Congress on Wednesday.
A White House official said detailee pay rates are determined by their home agencies and tied to the federal government’s employee pay scale, which determines salaries for various roles. In the Washington, D.C., area, the top salary for staff tied to the scale is $197,200.

The next-highest salary for employees is $195,200 — the top federal salary rate for full-time White House Office employees. Trump aides making this salary include press secretary Karoline Leavitt, chief of staff Susie Wiles, deputy chief of staff and homeland security adviser Stephen Miller, communications director Steven Cheung and border czar Tom Homan.
White House counsel David Warrington and assistant to the president and senior counsel Peter Navarro also earn the top White House employee salary.
They have not received raises: Their salaries stayed the same as listed in the White House’s 2025 report.
Walt Nauta, a codefendant with Trump in the Mar-a-Lago classified documents case that a federal appeals court dismissed in February 2025, earns $175,000 as a deputy assistant to the president and director of Oval Office operations, according to this year’s salary document.
Some people working for the president are listed as making nothing from the White House, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who doubled as national security adviser, and Steven Witkoff, a real estate investor who serves as special envoy for peace missions who’s played a leading role in peace negotiations with Iran.
The White House official said this is because employees such as Rubio and Witkoff are not paid by the White House. Rubio earns $250,600 at the State Department, while Witkoff does not appear to earn a government salary.
The White House’s personnel roster has grown slightly during the past year — 411 people this year compared to 404 last year, according to the disclosures.
While the White House may offer its employees a degree of glamour and prestige, the pay isn’t always great.
The lowest salary listed is $59,661 for three White House staffers who work as an information service operator, a stenographer and a records management analyst. One person makes $63,510 as a staff assistant, followed by two people who make $63,940 as special assistant operators.
Thirty-four people are listed as making $65,500. Roles range from staff assistant and travel coordinator to presidential writer and deputy director of digital response.
As president, Trump earns a $400,000 salary and donates it. In February, Trump called himself a “schmuck” for doing so.
