Democratic city officials are escalating their warnings to the Trump administration after federal immigration officers shot and killed a woman in Minneapolis and shot two people in Portland, Oregon, this week.

Jacob Frey, mayor of Minneapolis, said in a news conference Friday that he stands by his statement for Immigration and Customs Enforcement to “Get the fuck out.”

“I stand by my statements,” Frey told reporters Friday. “I dropped an F-bomb. They killed somebody. Which one of those is more inflammatory? I’m going with the killing somebody.”

The Department of Homeland Security listed Frey’s comment as an example of “violent rhetoric” in a press release Thursday.

Local Democratic officials have grown increasingly concerned about accountability around federal law enforcement, as the Trump administration deploys an emboldened force of ICE and border patrol agents across the country.

Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner also had strong words for ICE. “Let me be clear: If any law enforcement agent, any ICE agent, is going to come to Philly to commit crimes, then you can get the F out of here,” Krasner said. “Because if you do that here, I will charge you with those crimes. You will be arrested. You will stand trial. You will be convicted.”

A city councilmember in Philadelphia, Kendra Brooks, also called for ICE to “get out” of cities.

Philadelphia has not seen the same surge of federal immigration officers as other cities, though the city has seen an increase in immigration enforcement. Local officials and activists held a vigil outside City Hall on Thursday for Renee Nicole Good, the woman killed Wednesday in Minneapolis.

On Thursday, border patrol agents shot and injured two people in Portland, Oregon. In response, the city’s mayor, Keith Wilson, called on ICE to end operations in the city until an investigation is complete.

“Portland is not a ‘training ground’ for militarized agents, and the ‘full force’ threatened by the administration has deadly consequences,” he said in a statement.

ICE conducted operations in several major cities last year, including Chicago, Los Angeles and Charlotte, North Carolina.

California Governor Gavin Newsom created an online portal for people to report “potentially unlawful activity by federal agents and officers” to the state’s Justice Department.
