Former White House official and conservative influencer Katie Miller heralded the release of Anthony Fauci’s diaries as a bombshell discovery that outed him as a calculating attention-seeker.
“The most disturbing part of Fauci’s diary — is what he decided to memorialize versus what he kept out of his diary,” she wrote in a post on X on Monday. “It’s almost like he knew this diary would one day become public. He wanted to cast himself as the hero, as famous, as the savior.”
Katie Miller, who is married to Trump adviser and White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller, has called for Fauci to be jailed. She derided Fauci’s appearance in front of the Senate Wednesday, questioning why he repeatedly invoked the Fifth Amendment. And she’s said he caused “decades of harm” to children as a leader of the federal government’s COVID-19 response.
Since-redacted excerpts from Fauci’s diary indicate his relationship with Katie Miller was not always this way.

In entries dated to 2020, Fauci’s diary suggests he had a close relationship with Katie Miller, who was Vice President Mike Pence’s communications director at the time and heavily involved in the White House’s COVID-19 response.
Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, a longtime critic of Fauci’s, published more than 1,000 pages of the infectious disease doctor’s diary Saturday. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. told Fox News that he handed the entries over to Senate Republicans after finding them on government servers.
Fauci, the former director of the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases who served as the face of the Trump administration’s COVID-19 response, writes about providing medical advice to Katie and Stephen Miller. He writes that he counseled the family after Katie Miller tested positive for COVID-19 while pregnant in 2020, when Stephen Miller tested positive and when their newborn child experienced a medical episode later that year.
“I am calling katie frequently to check on her couple time per day. She is very anxious about getting very ill since she is 10 weeks pregnant. Tonight she had an anxiety reaction. I calmed her over the phone,” Fauci wrote in an entry dated May 9, 2020.
In another entry, Fauci writes that he called the doctors of Miller’s child directly to discuss the infant’s medical care.
Some of the entries detailing Fauci’s interactions with Miller were made public in the initial document dump, but were later redacted.
A NOTUS analysis comparing the originally posted document and the document available Wednesday afternoon show many of the redactions included sections of the diary recounting Fauci’s interactions with the Millers. The original document mentioned Katie Miller 56 times, while the redacted document mentioned her 37 times.
Katie Miller requested that NOTUS not disclose the details of her child’s medical history and said Paul’s office published them without her knowledge or permission. Paul’s office did not respond to a request for comment.
She said that while she and Fauci were in regular contact during the initial COVID-19 response and would occasionally discuss nonwork matters, her opinion of him at the time was that he was “incredibly self-centered and sought to promote himself above the good of the people.”
“He was not my doctor. He was not my friend. He was a work colleague who called me for work purposes, and in the course of a phone call, you would discuss other things,” Miller told NOTUS.
She said she purposely gave Fauci the impression that she was friendly with him so that he “did not leak against me or my husband.”
“I understood who he was, and I understood how to manage somebody like him,” she said. She pointed to a passage in Fauci’s diaries where he describes agreeing with Stephen Miller on the need for border restrictions to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
“How did Stephen Miller manage to get Dr. Fauci there?” she asked rhetorically. “It’s understanding how to communicate with somebody who wants to put themselves above others.”
In recent years, Katie Miller served as the media representative for Kennedy during the presidential transition and as an aide to Elon Musk’s DOGE initiative. Since leaving the administration, she has hosted Kennedy on her podcast. She’s also talked about not vaccinating her youngest child.
Fauci’s diary entries depict Katie Miller as a frequent ally while the Coronavirus Task Force was active and someone he relied on to help sort out issues with Trump and Pence.
“katie Miller is great (tough, smart,but great),” Fauci wrote on March 25, 2020.
Fauci did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Katie Miller, in turn, went to him when her husband tested positive for COVID-19 in the fall of 2020, Fauci wrote.
After Stephen Miller tested positive, Fauci writes, he spoke to Katie multiple times as she was traveling to her parents’ home in Texas. “Spoke to her at Houston airport and after she landed,” he wrote in an entry dated October 6, 2020.
“Am on phone frequently with katie and Stephen,” Fauci wrote on December 31, 2020.
Fauci’s depiction of their relationship in 2020 stands in sharp contrast to the opinions Miller has expressed about Fauci in recent years.
“From the first day of the COVID task force, Dr. Fauci cared more about virtue signaling than science,” Katie Miller wrote in a 2025 post on X.
For some, including former members of the Trump administration, Fauci has come to symbolize government overreach and hubris in the wake of the pandemic. He became the subject of conspiracy theories claiming the federal government covered up the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic and widespread negative reactions to the vaccine. Neither theory has been supported by evidence.
Nevertheless, in anticipation of attempts to prosecute the former health official, former President Joe Biden issued a preemptive pardon for any offenses Fauci may have committed “related to his service as Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, as a member of the White House Coronavirus Task Force or the White House” before leaving office.
Paul, an outspoken critic of Fauci’s, compelled him to appear before the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs Wednesday.
During the hearing, Fauci, now 85, said in his opening statement that Paul had an “unhinged obsession” with putting him behind bars.
“Given Senator Paul’s obvious obsession with calling for my prosecution, his repeated slanderous comments about me, and recently his publicly releasing my unredacted personal diary aimed at embarrassing and intimidating me, the only conclusion I can reach is that the sole reason he is calling me before this Committee is to get me to say something that could vindicate his repeated public pledges that I end up, in his words, ‘behind bars,’” Fauci said.
Miller herself has also called for Fauci’s prosecution. When former Director of National Security Tulsi Gabbard released documents last month she claimed showed that Fauci directed funds toward “dangerous” biological research in China, Miller wrote on X, “When asked this question in the Situation Room during the COVID Task Force meetings six years ago, Dr. Fauci said no. Dr. Fauci used the government’s medical establishment to push an agenda that protected and promoted himself at the expense of the American people. His autopen pardon should be trashed, and he should be in jail.”
That’s a stark departure from the relationship Fauci wrote about in his diary.
“katie Miller and I laugh at each other in the Sit Room,” he wrote on May 6, 2020.
