President Donald Trump had two bags of McDonalds delivered to the Oval Office Monday through DoorDash, after which he tipped the driver $100 in cash.

The stunt was part of a bid to promote his “no tax on tips” policy ahead of tax filing on April 15. The policy was passed last July as part of the 2025 budget reconciliation bill.

“This doesn’t look staged, does it?” Trump joked as he greeted a woman later identified by DoorDash as Sharon Simmons of Arkansas.

Trump used the photo op to tout how Simmons, an Arkansas native, received $11,000 in tips last year.

“I heard you picked up an extra $11,000 because the tax bill was so big — the refund was the biggest you’ve ever had,” Trump said.

“It certainly was,” Simmons, who was wearing a red “DoorDash Grandma” shirt, said.

The moment quickly turned into an impromptu press conference as reporters gathered outside the Oval Office started asking the president questions on a variety of subjects, including Iran, Trump’s dispute with the Pope and a now-deleted photo he posted on Truth Social that appeared to depict himself as Jesus. However, one reporter asked Simmons if the White House tips well.

“Potentially,” Simmons said.

“Great,” Trump said, handing her $100 in cash.

“Yes, very,” Simmons responded.

According to a press release sent out by White House, the Working Families Tax Cuts, which is the measure in the “One Big Beautiful Bill” that includes no tax on tips, has helped Simmons pay for her husband’s cancer treatment debt, supplement her husband’s reduced income and afford travel expenses to visit family.

“No Tax on Tips has taken things to the next level, letting me keep more of the tips I earn and deserve,” Simmons said. “Today is a celebration of the advocacy of thousands of Dashers from around the country who fought to ensure we were included in this policy.”
