Shamira is a local reporter for NOTUS.
She most recently reported on statewide issues for Mississippi Public Broadcasting. Her reporting on the 70th anniversary of Emmett Till’s murder received a 2026 regional Edward Murrow Award and she received an award for Best Radio Feature from the Mississippi Association of Broadcasters for her reporting on Oscar-winning film “Sinners.” Her reporting has appeared in City Limits, The Guardian and on NPR.
Shamira got her start at France 24 in Paris. She graduated magna cum laude from Howard University and received a dual-degree Masters in Global Journalism and Africana Studies from New York University.
