Sen. Mitch McConnell was loaded into an ambulance on a stretcher the day of his hospitalization last month, according to new footage obtained by CNN.
In the 17-second video reportedly taken by a neighbor of the long-serving Kentucky senator, a team of D.C. paramedics can be seen gathering outside a residential home on June 14. The video then cuts to an individual’s feet on a stretcher with a paramedic nearby. The person’s face is not visible, but the neighbor reported to CNN that another witness identified the person as McConnell.
A spokesperson for McConnell declined to comment directly on the video, referring back to a recent statement that said the senator’s condition was continuing to improve in the hospital. His team has not disclosed what ailment caused the hospitalization, nor have they released any information about McConnell’s condition.
McConnell has remained in the hospital for nearly a month. Multiple media outlets have reported that police scanner traffic from the day of McConnell’s hospitalization revealed paramedics responded to a cardiac arrest and performed CPR on an individual at an address connected to McConnell. His office has not commented on the recording.

The lack of concrete information has led to a spate of unverified theories about McConnell’s health — including claims by far-right activist and presidential confidant Laura Loomer, who claimed this week that McConnell was “brain dead” and not returning to the Senate. Republican leaders refuted the claims and said on Tuesday they had spoken to the senator at length by phone.
Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear made note of the rumors while publicly requesting a health update from McConnell’s office on Wednesday. Beshear said in a statement that McConnell’s absence has resulted in speculation that is “not fair to the Senator or to Kentuckians.”
“My hope is that this provides him the opportunity to share the information in a transparent manner, direct from the source,” Beshear said. “I wish him a safe and speedy recovery.”
McConnell has experienced other health concerns in the past. He was hospitalized for eight days in February for flu-like symptoms, and in 2023, appeared to freeze mid-speech on two different occasions. As a childhood survivor of polio, McConnell has struggled with mobility issues due to lingering effects of the disease and occasionally uses a wheelchair.
He announced last year that he would not seek reelection for an eighth time in 2026.
