Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy is teaming up with the producers of “The Real World: Boston” — the reality TV show he appeared on in the 1990s — to launch a YouTube series in celebration of America’s 250th anniversary.
The online show will feature the Cabinet official and his family touring the U.S. on an extended road trip, TMZ first reported on Monday.
It will be produced by Bunim/Murray Productions, the same production company that produced the 1997 MTV series “The Real World: Boston,” which featured a 25-year-old Duffy living with a diverse group of strangers in a converted firehouse.
The five-part series will be paid for by “The Great American Road Trip,” one of the nonprofits created by the Trump administration to promote events tied to the country’s 250th anniversary celebrations.

The Transportation Department told NOTUS that the series is designed to “encourage Americans to rediscover the country beyond their front doors, featuring everything from civics lessons about the nation’s founding to visits to national parks, local businesses, and thriving small-town communities,” and is just one of a series of planned initiatives to celebrate America’s 250th birthday.
Monday’s announcement comes during Duffy’s biggest crisis of his tenure at the DOT, as wait times at airports across the country remain stubbornly long amid a shutdown affecting the Department of Homeland Security. Congress’ inability to fund the department has left thousands of Transportation Security Administration employees without paychecks, leading many to quit or call out from work while the funding impasse remains in place.
Duffy is no stranger to being in front of the camera — after appearing on “The Real World” he appeared on MTV’s “Road Rules: All Stars,” where he met his wife, Rachel Campos-Duffy.
Duffy graduated law school in 1999 and worked for his family law firm for two years before serving as a special prosecutor for Ashland County, Wisconsin. He ran for Congress in 2009, and served three terms in the House of Representatives.
Following his time in office, the 54-year-old father of nine children went on to be a prominent Republican voice on Fox Business Network.
