Cory Mills Was Caught With Sex Workers Before Mission to Afghanistan in 2021, Sources Say

The group Mills had traveled with to Afghanistan parted ways with the then-congressional candidate in Tbilisi, Georgia, after they found out about the sex workers. It appears Mills went to Afghanistan on his own.

Following President Joe Biden’s chaotic 2021 withdrawal from Afghanistan, a group of individuals sought to make an unannounced trip to the Taliban-run country to extract Americans who were stranded inside. One of those people involved in the unofficial mission was Rep. Cory Mills, an Army veteran and a then-congressional candidate.

En route to Afghanistan, Mills and the rest of the group he was with stopped in Tbilisi, Georgia. One night while awaiting to continue their rescue mission, Mills was caught with sex workers, a source with direct knowledge of the incident and two sources briefed on the matter told NOTUS. All three sources were granted anonymity to discuss the sensitive nature of the mission and to avoid retribution from Mills.

When the other members of the group saw Mills in the hallway with the sex workers, they were furious. Their mission was already sensitive, given the state of the country they were trying to enter. The group decided to part ways with Mills, the sources said, and Mills appeared to go to Afghanistan separately.

Mills’ office did not respond to a request for comment.

Mills’ mission into Afghanistan has been well documented. According to the news site Florida Politics, Mills claimed he saved a woman named Mariam and her three children who were trapped in the country.

He also went on Fox News to talk about the mission and to lash out at the U.S. State Department for taking credit for it. (In announcing the evacuation of “four citizens from Texas,” the State Department made no mention of any aid from Mills.)

“This is an attempt to save face by the administration for the Americans they left behind. This is a woman with three children from age 15 all the way down to 2 years old, ” Mills told Fox News Digital. “And they did nothing to try to expedite this. … But at the very last minute, you have these ‘senior officials’ at the State Department trying to claim credit for this, like, ‘Oh yeah, look what we’ve done.’”

The frantic evacuation of Afghanistan came under harsh criticism by members of both parties, and after troops left the country, a number of U.S. citizens were suddenly stuck there. In August of that year, two other members of Congress also made an unannounced trip to the country, which prompted stern warnings from Democratic leadership to not go there.

This is just the latest in a slew of controversies surrounding Mills. He has been accused by his fellow soldiers of not actually saving their lives, despite claims to the contrary on a form recommending him for a Bronze Star.

Last month, a court issued a restraining order against him in response to an application by an ex-girlfriend who said Mills threatened to release sexually explicit images and videos of her. Earlier this year, he was accused of assault against a woman, and police were called, though no charges were ever filed.

And more recently, the House Ethics Committee opened an investigation into Mills this week for a litany of violations, including campaign finance violations; “improperly solicited and/or received gifts, including in connection with privately sponsored officially-connected travel”; allegations that he “received special favors by virtue of his position” and allegations that he “engaged in misconduct with respect to allegations of sexual misconduct and/or dating violence.”
