Deirdre Walsh joins NOTUS to Lead Congressional Coverage

NOTUS has hired veteran journalist Deirdre Walsh to serve as a senior editor managing NOTUS’ Capitol Hill team.

Walsh, currently a congressional correspondent for NPR, regularly appears across the network’s programs and podcasts. She joined NPR in 2018 as its Congress editor.

Before that, she was a senior congressional producer and reporter at CNN, where she played a critical role coordinating CNN’s Hill team. In 2012, Walsh, alongside CNN’s Dana Bash, was awarded the Dirksen Award for Distinguished Reporting of Congress. She also won the Joan S. Barone Award for excellence in Washington-based congressional or political reporting for her work exposing a loophole in the STOCK Act. She began her nearly 18-year tenure at the network as a producer of “Inside Politics” with Judy Woodruff.

In 2018, she was elected president of the board of directors for the Washington Press Club Foundation.

She will start in January 2026.
