Madison Sheahan may have only recently joined the pack of Republicans fighting to take on Rep. Marcy Kaptur this fall, but she’s raised a formidable amount of money to compete in the Ohio district.
Sheahan, the former deputy director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, raised $464,502 in the six weeks since launching her campaign, according to numbers shared by the campaign with NOTUS. Sheahan officially announced her bid for Ohio’s 9th District on Jan. 15 after stepping down from her position at ICE.
“President Trump trusted me to execute his historic mandate to close the border and enforce our laws — and we did it in record time. I’m honored to have received overwhelming support in only a few short weeks in this fight to finally retire Marcy Kaptur,” Sheahan said in a statement to NOTUS.
Sheahan is facing two other strong early fundraisers. Ohio state House Rep. Josh Williams raised nearly $600,000 in the second half of 2025 and Air Force veteran Alea Nadeem raised nearly $500,000 since last April, according to data filed with the Federal Election Commission.
Sheahan’s fast fundraising has made her campaign bullish about her chances to face Kaptur in the fall.
“It’s great to raise $464,502 in just six short weeks, but it’s even better when your opponent’s fundraising has stalled out and they’re spending like Democrats,” Garrett Arnold, Sheahan’s campaign manager, said in a statement. “We expect fundraising to continue to be strong, surpassing $500,000 this week and building momentum for the resources to face Marcy Kaptur in the General Election.”
Kaptur is the longest-serving member of Congress and has long been on Republican lists to oust. Kaptur won her recently redrawn district by less than 3,000 votes, her closest election since entering Congress in 1982. She currently sits with $1.7 million in cash on hand.
