President Donald Trump said on Monday that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene “has lost her way,” underscoring the Georgia firebrand’s transition from MAGA darling to one of the only Republicans willing to criticize Trump in recent weeks.
“I don’t know what happened to Marjorie. She’s a nice woman, but I don’t know what happened. She’s lost her way, I think,” Trump said in response to a question about a post Greene made on X that said: “I would really like to see nonstop meetings at the WH on domestic policy not foreign policy and foreign country’s leaders.”
Additionally, Greene has been vocal about her support to release Department of Justice files related to Jeffrey Epstein, something Trump has repeatedly downplayed and avoided, despite promising their release during his candidacy.
In response to Trump’s statement, Greene told NOTUS: “I haven’t lost my way. I’m 100% America first and only!”
In an Axios interview, Greene framed parts of Trump’s second-term agenda as “America Last,” asserting that Republicans have lost their anchor on cost-of-living issues. Greene has been critical of Republicans’ lack of a plan to address health care costs, especially the fallout from Affordable Care Act subsidies that are set to expire at the end of 2025.
“No I’m not towing the party line on this, or playing loyalty games,” Greene posted in October. “Not a single Republican in leadership talked to us about this or has given us a plan to help Americans deal with their health insurance premiums DOUBLING!!!”
Greene has gone on a recent media tourl, openly criticizing her party and Speaker Mike Johnson during stops on “The View” and “Real Time With Bill Maher.”

NOTUS first reported last week that Greene has been privately discussing a run for president with colleagues and those close to her. One source told NOTUS that she believes a potential White House bid would center her belief that she is “real MAGA and that the others have strayed,” adding that she believes she has “the national donor network to win the primary.”
After publication, Greene called the story a “baseless article.” NOTUS sent an inquiry to her communications director prior to publication, but Greene asked why NOTUS had not reached out to a different person in her office.
“Who is your source? Laura Loomer? She claimed I was running for governor last week and announcing it in the view. Once again you publish baseless gossip. Very disappointing. Don’t text me again,” Greene said.
Trump’s comments signal a notable rupture in what was considered a close alliance between the two onetime political outsiders who have since come to wield serious influence in Washington.
“I guess she’s got some kind of an act going,” Trump said, accusing her of “catering to the other side.”
“When somebody like Marjorie goes over and starts making statements like that, it shows she doesn’t know,” he said.
