Trump’s super PAC, MAGA Inc., spent $10 million this week to support Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in his tight Senate race, a financial disclosure filed Saturday afternoon revealed.
The president faced criticism from Republicans for not spending enough money to support Paxton, whom he endorsed over incumbent Sen. John Cornyn this spring.
Paxton’s Democratic opponent, James Talarico, holds a slight lead in recent polling over the Texas attorney general — whom some Republicans consider a weak candidate — and the Cook Political Report categorized the race as a “toss up” in a leftward ratings shift last month.
The expenditures for digital advertising were dated Sept. 4, and mark the first major spending campaign from MAGA Inc. within the 60 days before the November midterms.
