At his first fundraiser for the Republican National Committee on Monday night, Vice President JD Vance raised $2 million, according to a source familiar with the matter.

The fundraiser, held in New York City, marks the first time Vance has hosted an event for the RNC, and it was a pricey event. Couples who wanted to be on the “Host Committee” had to donate $250,000, and those on the level below had to give $100,000, according to Axios, who first reported the existence of the fundraiser.

In March, Vance was named the RNC’s finance chair, giving him another opportunity to connect with high-profile donors and raise money for the RNC ahead of a widely expected 2028 presidential bid.

Of course, Vance already has an extensive rolodex of donors, both in his short time as vice president and during his two years as a senator. (Vance came into the Senate with deep ties to Silicon Valley.)

According to FEC records, the RNC currently has a little over $45 million on hand, while the Democratic National Committee has close to $17 million.

Throughout the campaign, the DNC routinely outraised the RNC. But the money advantage flipped when Trump won the election, with rich donors proving their willingness to open their wallets.
