Rep. Tom Tiffany of Wisconsin, a longtime ally of President Donald Trump, is joining the packed race for Wisconsin governor.

“It is a great challenge that is going to be before us, but it is also a great opportunity, and we are going to accept that challenge, and we’re in as of right now,” Tiffany said on an appearance on Dan O’Donnell’s WISN show Tuesday.

In a video posted to X, Tiffany said, “I see where we are headed and I know we can do better.”

“Girls’ sports will stay for girls, moms will be moms not inseminated persons and common sense will win,” Tiffany said in the video. “Because we will not let Minnesota’s madness and Illinois’ insanity take over here in Wisconsin.”

Tiffany, who has represented Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District since 2020, joins Republican candidates Josh Schoemann, a county executive, and Bill Berrien, a manufacturing CEO.

Multiple state Democrats have announced their candidacy for the race as well, including state Rep. Francesca Hong and Lt. Gov. Sara Rodriguez. The Democratic Party of Wisconsin was quick to criticize Tiffany’s announcement on Tuesday, calling him “Tariff Lover Tom.”

“Tariff Lover Tom has been jacking up prices on Wisconsin families with his blind support for a trade war that is making everything from beer to beef to school supplies way more expensive — working Wisconsin families can’t afford Tariff Lover Tom being in charge,” Devin Remiker, the party’s chair, said in a press release.
