Alexa McMahon

Deputy Editor, Perspectives

Alexa is deputy editor of Perspectives.

She was previously at National Geographic magazine, where she was a senior editorial manager for features and special projects. Before that, she was an articles editor at The Washington Post Magazine, where she conceived and co-edited a special issue on mass incarceration, which won the magazine its first-ever National Magazine Award in 2020. She also edited a reported essay by DeNeen L. Brown, “The Case for Leaving America to Escape Racism,” that was a finalist for a National Magazine Award in 2023. She started her career at The Boston Globe.
